Spirituality, a state of mind, a result of various social interactions a person has had in life. It is a world view (weltanshaung). In a wide variety of cultural and religious concepts, it incorporates a spiritual path, along which one advances to achieve a higher state of awareness, to become a perfect human being and outreach wisdom. World is becoming increasingly capitalistic and
materialist, hence the quest and urgency for spirituality is growing. The traditional Indian way of life helped in the evolution and growth of a certain kind of spiritualism influenced by numerous cultures and religions that flourished together and resulted into the unique Indian spirituality.
Indian spiritual leaders/saints advocated peace, brotherhood and co existence throughout the history of Indian civilization. Arts like Yoga and Ayurveda coupled with religions have played an important
role in the evolution of the so called 'Indian spirituality'. It has been propagated through various Ashrams and centres of excellence spread over different parts of India. This spirituality is characterized by showing respect to all living beings-animals trees, rocks, water and Sun that helps on to lead a positive and healthy life.
It encompasses a belief that the supreme Creator has put each
one of us in this world for a purpose and that purpose is to be compassionate, caring and loving to one-another and that it can be done in consonance with nature without exploitation.
