The Legend of the Wolves of Gunflint Lake

"The Legend of the Wolves of Gunflint Lake" is a story about relationships. Whenever we hear the howl of a Wolf, a tingling up the spine tells us this is a very special voice in Mother Earth’s symphony. Legends from around the world speak of the close bond between Wolf and Human. Wherever they are both found, so are stories like the one in this book. It is indeed a lovely tale, well told and especially meaningful to children today. This charming and uplifting book reminds us of the sacredness and beauty of our elders, the natural world and all living creatures. It gently encourages us to reflect upon and appreciate interconnectedness value and purposefulness of all life.

Lisa Sellman believes that, "the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others" as she quotes Mahatma Gandhi. In that sense, Lisa has truly found her calling, and the inspiration to write her first children’s book. She devotes much of her free time to volunteer work with youth, environmental, animal rescues, and socially responsible charities in Minnesota. She is passionate about exploring the great outdoors and sleeps best in a tent with stars above. She has made her home in Minneapolis with her always supportive husband Rick, and her precious dog, Jasmine. She says that she derives inspiration in her dog training business,

With this writing Lisa has shared with readers a bit of the heritage and culture of the Native American community in the Gunflint area. The values and ways of life that are vanishing from our current lifestyles. Some of her beliefs are like lessons of life, and could could be just as relevant today as they have been to the generations of residents who have orally passed them on to us.
