CAUSES:
Even if you get enough sleep, you may still have dark circles under your eyes. There are a lot of things that cause dark circles. They could be hereditary, but it is probably more to do with diet. It could also be from your lifestyle if you smoke, drink alcohol, and drink caffeinated sodas because these things dehydrates and thins the skin. Also, it could be that sun exposure is making it so your body produces more melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. Eye bags are caused by gravity, hormonal skin changes, allergies, capillary fragility, or inflammation from sun damage. This is from pooling of excess tissue fluids. The aging process also thins the skin so that the veins are visible which causes the dark circles.
Another cause for dark circles under eyes is not having enough vitamin K because it plays an important role in not only dark circles, but overall skin care. Vitamin K heals the capillaries and arteries in the skin and helps blood around the eyes to clot properly. The skin around the eyes is thin so it is important to the blood to circulate and clot properly to prevent the appearance of dark circles.
SOLUTIONS:
Vitamin K can be found in leafy green vegetables, avocados and kiwi.
A technique known as Cold Compress is a quick way to fix under eye circles. Wrap a few ice cubes in a cloth or soak the cloth in cold water and place it over your eyes for 10-5 minutes.
You can also use cooled "Calli" tea bags placed over your eyes for 10-15 minutes.
Another way to reduce dark under eye circles and lower inflammation is cottage cheese. It is known to supply nutrients to the skin and prevent future dark circles from developing. Wrap 1 tablespoon of chilled cottage cheese in a gauze pad for each eye and place them over the dark circles for 10-15 minutes.
Eye and face creams that contain Vitamin K have proved to be helpful in reducing dark circles under eyes as well.
