What is IPL Photo Rejuvenation?
Photo rejuvenation is a safe and non-invasive treatment which uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to diminish imperfections in your skin. Through a series of treatments, Photo Rejuvenation can significantly improve the texture and appearance of your skin by diminishing facial redness, age spots, sun spots, spider veins, fine lines, uneven pigmentation and even large pores. Your skin will look younger and healthier - and since Photo Rejuvenation is non-invasive, there is no recovery time required.
How does IPL Photo Rejuvenation work?
Short pulses of wide spectrum light from our SpectraClear IPL system selectively target the oxy-hemoglobin in vascular imperfections such as spider veins. The intense pulsed light also targets the melanin in imperfections such as sun spots and age spots. The oxy-hemoglobin and melanin are coagulated by the heat from the light and are replaced by new, undamaged cells through your body's own natural renewal process. The light and heat also stimulate the growth of new collagen beneath your skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and improve the texture of your skin.
What are the Photo Rejuvenation treatments like?
The treatments are simple and usually last anywhere from 10-60 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. Some patients experience mild discomfort but tolerate it relatively easily. The Photo Rejuvenation light is simply placed over a spot of the treatment area and flashed. When the entire treatment area has been flashed twice, the treatment is over. Although your skin will be slightly rosy after the treatment, this does not usually last more than a couple of hours. In fact, many people often have treatments during their lunch hour and go right back to work afterwards.
How many treatments will I need?
For most people, 5 to 7 treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart are needed to achieve satisfactory results. However, it really depends on the condition of your skin and your expectations. Obviously, the more imperfect your skin, the more treatments will be required. Photo Rejuvenation can be combined with microdermabrasion treatments to enhance your results.
