Thinking About Powers

Powers of various kinds are omnipresent, just as energy that is taught about in every school to almost every student. Some places, individual persons, have less of some types of power and some more. But like energy each has some power, of some kind- montary power; political power; muscle power; spiritual power, psychic power; enchantment power and so on.

I think, that is a revolutionary thought. It occurred to me very recently, after I enjoyed a good sleep.

Is it possible that even the poorest of the poor has some power? If indeed then of what kind?

In a democratic state, everyone has the power of vote, the power of dissent or assent. I think, I am witnessing this phenomenon, nowadays while there is a social movement underway against corruption, in India. The poorest of the poor persons, can swell a crowd, can raise voice against the social injustices in which such survives. Yes, it is a minuscule power, compared to that of rich and influential political leaders, industrialists or their followers, but there is definitely. One can deny it at one's own peril.

What, then are the kinds of my powers?

I do have some monetary power, in my small savings and a small house property; but my most prominent powers are: the power to think; the power to express my thoughts in a widely understood language; the power to share my thoughts through Internet, to a limited set of persons. These kinds of power are of course facilitated through my limited monetary power, that allows me some comfortable leisure hours to engage in enhancing all these kinds of power.

I think this a a very comforting thought. All powers have their own liabilities. But all powers are accompanied with some habit. People who have more of monetary power are habitual to act in ways to enhance to sustain their this kind of power. It becomes a part of the character, their own characteristic, which people having the power to criticize often ignore, often forget.

I think, I am also getting habitual in doing so. My thoughts enhance my thinking power. My essays enhance my communication power. My readers help me in doing so through their appreciation.

Can I become a monstrous center of this kind of power? I think not, as I remember this thought of a very eminent thinker:
"The false can never grow into truth by growing in power." -Rabindranath Tagore

Truth is far more powerful then anything else. I think I seek truth and truth only!
