Thinking about Moods

We all have them and are affected by them, whether our own of those of others close to us. According to Wikipedia:

“A mood is a relatively long lasting emotional state. Moods differ from emotions in that they are less specific, less intense, and less likely to be triggered by a particular stimulus or event. According to a psychologist Robert Thayer, a mood is a product of two dimensions: energy and tension. A person can be energetic or tired while also being tense or calm. People feel best when they are in a calm-energy mood, and worst when in a tense-tired state.”

I have been affected several times, rather intensely, by the moods of people close to me. I do not think, it is as simple as some psychologists would like to believe. I think often moods swing, because certain dormant memories get active. Why and How? Is what i have started thinking. May be the mood of a person depends to the microbiome composition at the time. If it gets a bit off balance, for some reason, whether dietary; environmental, weather, or hormonal, the mood can swing from 'positive' to 'negative'.

We, very often, do not think about them seriously. Sometimes they can play havoc with our family life; love life, or even professional. We are not ready to face the swings. May be because of lack of compassion; patience, understanding and inability to remain silent for a while?
J. Krishnamurty once said:

“When we talk about understanding, surely it takes place only when the mind listens completely - the mind being your heart, your nerves, your ears - when you give your whole attention to it.”

Do most people have patience to do that most often? I do not think so!!
