Thinking about Paths

Different paths for different journeys, different destinations. We all have to transverse different paths all through our life, whether for going somewhere, or just working towards a goal. But we often commit a mistake, when we believe that the path we are on, at a particular time, will be straight forward towards our desired destination only, straight up!!!

I am reminded about my trekking in my youth. I have done several treks in Himalayas. Some rather difficult, towards a destination on a high altitude. But the path was never only way up, one had to go sometimes on a downward path also, in order to climb up the next hill.

So, is the path I am transversing now, towards the health of my legs - that have become weak during the past one decade. About an year ago, I felt that I am on my way to my destination. I felt that the state of my legs improving day by day through medicines and exercise. I started thinking that the path to my destination was straight ahead. But, I was mistaken. Some months later I suffered a ligament fracture near the ankle of my right foot. It was plastered, and I had to be inactive for almost a month. The result; I could again seldom walk comfortably. Now, I am again on my way. Some days, I feel, I am really improving, and on others that my destination is afar still. But now, after this thinking, I feel very sure, that I will definitely reach my destination one day not very far off. The path I am on, may be circuitous, may not be straight but it is a path, that I am transversing now, in my journey of life!!!! And a journey invariably has up and downs.

I think that it holds equally true for societies, countries. A country is never on a straight path for development, straight up, it has to go through a path downwards to climb up. It is only an illusion of its political leaders to think that some policies will lead to success, whether of themselves, their party or else.
