One can often get frustrated, sometimes a bit too often for comfort, that is my latest surmise. I think it is because we start harboring unviable aspirations, It then becomes a habit, we got used to. This habit a very common one today was fueled by expectations of increasing economic growth, professed by most economists, a panacea for all social problems. It was surmised that economic growth, that provided for our increasing comfortability, is limitless. It needed only more hard work and skills. But it has been proved in last few years, that is not the whole truth.
We are witnessing, social movements, unsettling of governments that have ruled for many decades, if not centuries. One can indeed discern a common thread in all such movements. Under privileged section of populace all over the world, is getting impatient to get their aspirations ambitions fulfilled, whether they were backward castes in India, or youth in France, Spain, Egypt and is spreading as wild fire globally. People who had got used to nursing high ambitions/aspirations, when they are witnessing that they are being ignored and hence left behind in the society, only because the rich and powerful have been busy filling up their bellies, at the cost of their's. They are feeling outraged. As I read here on La Revista, some months ago:
We are outraged! Yes, rightfully outraged. For that we wanted to leave an inheritance for our children a different world, less aggressive, more caring, more just, which is increasingly becoming far from possible, swallowed by the great belly of the economic interests of a few. Such is the greed of the belly, sensible and sensitive people have said enough! Our children and ourselves, and our friends, and people did not know anything, we have filled the streets and squares, and peacefully, we said we want the world to transform to another world. And the build. We do not grant the license to be puppets in the hands of those who only have a belly and we want brain.
I think it is a disease that is becoming a worldwide epidemic now. In India, we are witnessing an uprising of rural farmers, whose land had been acquired by the government/s, to build residential flats for the rather well of section of populace, by the aspiring builders, with a nod of politicians ruling. They farmers can now discern, that the aspirations of their families were sacrificed at the altar of urban development. Same is the story of economic recession that plagued most of the developed world, including the richest and the most powerful nations in the past. The rise of terrorism all around is another episode of this story we are witnessing daily on the idiot box, or our daily news feed, the newspapers!!
But is that all? Look around, feel the pulse of people surrounding yourself, and you will find, that the seeds of frustrations are taking root and sprouting all around us. Rapidly, very rapidly. Because we have all got used to social inequality, in which we were privileged.
Is that all to it?
I do not think so. Besides getting frustrated with people around us, we are also susceptible to self frustrations. Very often, we harbor and nurture aspirations for love or health, whether justifiable or not, in near future or old age, and we get frustrated on their account too, and then either feel bored or get violent!!
