I read an article that appeared in the journal Comprehensive. It surprised me, because the seven foods mentioned to be essential in a diet to look after the emotions are all plants.
The seven foods mentioned are: brown rice, apples, lentils, avocados, barley, spinach and lettuce. The title of the section that describes these seven food is "Food for the soul." The idea is apriori surprising that some foods are specifically for the soul and draws attention to these and not others that are and are not more than seven and seven, no less.
At this time the impression that is normally given is that everything that carries the word diet is good. Everyone should do, according to current fashion, some kind of diet. The low-calorie diet, diets for blood groups, protein diet, not to mention the specific diets, such as cholesterol or any restrictive diet.
In reality these 7 foods are delicious because of its high nutrient content, but the assertion of its utility to take care of emotions, in reality is confirmed in my opinion a large dose of marketing operation.
Brown rice thanks to its fiber shell, unlike white rice, provides carbohydrates that become slow glucose absorption. The B vitamins it contains is usually considered to have a beneficial action on the nervous system. It is digestive and boiled with vegetables it is fantastic.
Apples are neutral foods they are easy to digest and provide energy. They are considered useful for diabetics. In the kitchen can be eaten in multiple ways: raw, boiled, steamed, baked and are suitable for sweet and savory dishes. Hence the consideration of its neutral character.
The lentils have an excellent protein content, iron and minerals. They are very rich in folic acid. excellent for the nervous system. Essential in any diet either adult children or elderly. A very interesting aspect is its usefulness for their fiber content as facilitator of intestinal transit.
Avocados, due to its high content of magnesium and vitamin B12, are beneficial for mood. It is also true that they are highly caloric. They are polyunsaturated fatty acids, those considered beneficial.
Oats is a very energetic food, which constituted the staple of Huns. It contains B vitamins (B5 and B6). It is ideal to be combined with fruit or vegetables with nuts. Their carbohydrate absorption are slow.
The spinach known part of its iron content, are high in magnesium and all the dark greens. They provide, furthermore, the coenzyme Q10 which is protective of the brain.
The lettuce is high in magnesium and folic acid. Due to the existing lactupicrina their stems have a powerful calming effect and is good against insomnia.
All foods have mentioned something in common. All are plant foods and are considered useful for the nervous system for their high energy intake and as we have seen because they contain vitamins and minerals.
However some considerations before the end:
The mind and emotions. The mind and soul. All together? All jumbled up?
Through the blood reaching the brain also cited seven food and other ingested foods that act to perform their own functions in turn.
Finally prove that there is a missing type of relationship as a direct food eaten and how the brain functions when you press the button and turn on the light.
Most critics will still criticize the main premise. Accepted by all that soul is the brain or brain function, but we know where the soul and if this exists? On the first part of question there are opinions as diverse as it is in the pineal gland or that is in the heart and, of course, believe that anywhere. On the second part of the question may now not everyone speaks of the soul or as metaphor, although it is known that there are people without a soul. For all I have therefore put a question mark in the title of the article.
It does not mean however that I do not agree. As the author rightly says, "when the quality of food improves so do the behavior, self-esteem and not just emotions and general attitude toward life improves.
